In order to vote, you must register to vote first. Here’s how:
You can find a registration form via this website (Click the ‘Download a fillable PDF voter registration form by clicking this button’, button)
You can fill in all the information using a computer, but it must be printed and signed with your signature.
After it’s signed, you send it in the mail to your County Auditor (See here) (You’re most likely in Minnehaha county, therefore send it to 415 N Dakota Ave)
The deadline for this in the state of South Dakota is October 19th. It must be sent and received by or before then.
There’s also an option to register in person. These are the places you can go to do this:
County auditor’s office
Driver’s license station (when you are renewing or applying for a driver’s license you may also register to vote on the driver’s license application)
City Finance Office
Public assistance agencies providing food stamps, TANF or WIC
Department of Human Services offices which provide assistance to the disabled
Military recruitment offices
You can start voting on November 3 of 2020.
There are two ways you can vote: By requesting a ballot via mail, or voting in person.
To request a ballot, simply fill out this form and submit it to your local election office. (Most likely will be 415 N Dakota Ave if you’re in Minnehaha County)
The deadline for requesting a ballot via mail is November 2, 2020.
To vote in person, simply go to the designated place. In the state of south dakota, it’s not currently announced where this will be. It will be announced closer to election day.
You can also vote early by going to your local election center (Minnehaha County Election Center – 220 W 6th St) This is called Absentee in-person voting.
