Local Events for the Christmas Season
POSTED December 14, 2020
With the holiday season upon us, there are numerous local events in Sioux Falls, South Dakota that you are able to attend and enjoy with family and friends!
The holiday season for most will look quite different this year and adjusting can be hard. For the first time ever the 29th Annual Parade of Lights will be cancelled due to COVID-19.https://www.artssiouxfalls.org/event/parade-of-lights/
While COVID-19 is still impacting a lot of things, here are a few events that you are able to do from the comfort of your car, home or with social distancing.
- Winter Wonderland is located at Falls Park and starts November 20th running through January 3rd, 2021. During this time the park is filled with lights and decorations and you’re also given the option to either walk through the park or take a quick drive through. https://www.experiencesiouxfalls.com/things-to-do/falls-park/winter-wonderland-at-falls-park/
- Christmas Lanes of Lights and Decorations! Different areas and neighborhoods of Sioux Falls have come together with the tradition of decorating their areas with a theme for everyone to enjoy during the holidays. Some themes this year are polar bear lane, church lane, snowflake lane, santa’s sleigh, candy cane lane, penguin lane, and many more. https://dakotaholidays.com/
- Christmas at the Cathedral! This year, this event will be different than years prior but you can still enjoy listening to it at the comfort of your home. Thanks to KELOland television and sponsors, the special Christmas at the Cathedral 2020 video will be broadcast commercial-free on Christmas night, December 25 from 6:30pm – 8pm. https://ccfesd.org/events/christmas-at-the-cathedral/
- December 18 at 7 – 8:30pm go join Lorie Line at the Washington Pavilion and attend her first solo piano tour performance! A great time to listen to some music, celebrate with others and enjoy a night in town. https://artssouthdakota.org/event/christmas-with-lorie-line/
The holiday season is a time to spend with family and friends and come together. Since this year has been everything except ordinary, some events may be cancelled due to COVID-19. Remember that we’re all in this together and we all have to adjust. We can still make this year memorable during this holiday season!!
