Climate Activists Throw Soup at Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”
POSTED October 20, 2022
Two climate activists from the group “Just Stop Oil” recently threw tomato soup at Vincent Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” painting. The “Just Stop Oil” activist group has been staging non-violent protests to protest the production of fossil fuels in the UK. This happened at the National Gallery in London, Britain on October 14, 2022. 21-year-old Phoebe Plummer and 20-year-old Anna Holland removed their jackets to reveal the “Just Stop Oil” T-shirts they were wearing after the soup throwing. They then proceeded to glue their hand to the gallery’s wall. The painting was confirmed to not be damaged, the frame was scuffed a little bit though. The activists were later unstuck from the wall and taken into custody by the Met police officers.
