On September 25 Shane Dawson uploaded the start of a new series titled “The Mind of Jake Paul”. In this series Shane accepts the task of figuring out whether or not Jake Paul is a sociopath.

When Dawson announced the plot of his new documentary series, Dawson was hit with a wave of backlash from his core audience. People threatened to unsubscribe if he attempted to humanize Jake Paul. Dawson said on Twitter that the documentary would have eight episodes, each being around 43 minutes in length.

During the series, Dawson explored the theory of  Logan Paul being the sociopath and Jake’s just trying to mimic his brother’s success. Logan Paul then responded to Shane’s theory and confirmed that he has sociopathic tendencies.

A sociopath is a person that can’t feel empathy towards most people but can feel for people that are close to them. A psychopath is someone who genuinely does not care about anyone or anything around them. Both fall under ASPD (Antisocial Personality Disorder). People with ASPD tend to lie, break laws, act impulsively and lack regard for their own safety and for the safety of others. After meeting with Jake Paul in the fourth episode, Shane comes to the conclusion that Jake is not a sociopath. Jake admitted all of the pranks on his YouTube channel were fake and that all of the controversial things he does are just for controversy.

Though both Dawson and Paul are gaining both views and subscribers, the two decided to take a break from the social media world.
