Roosevelt Fall Sports: A Great Start to the Season

Roosevelt sports seasons starting up and you need to keep up with your teams. The sports that have started are football, girls and boys soccer, volleyball, boy’s golf, girl’s tennis, and cross country.

Currently, Roosevelt’s football team is led by Head Coach Kim Nelson and is 3-0 and in 1st place for the SD AAA League after beating Brandon Valley, O’Gorman, and winning a big president bowl game against Lincoln while beating them 42-19 and putting them fully in 1st place ahead of Harrisburg. 

For boys soccer, Roosevelt is led by Head Coach Jud Conner and is 5-1 and in 6th place for the SD AA League beating Brooking, Rapid City Christian, O’Gorman, Harrisburg, then losing to Spearfish 2-4. But then winning an important conference game against Lincoln in a close game of 1-0.

For girls soccer, Roosevelt is led by Corissa Bonte and is 5-1-1 and is ranked 6th in the SD AA League, and beat Brookings, Spearfish, Rapid City Christian, O’Gorman, tied to Harrisburg, and lost a big conference game against Lincoln in a 0-2 ending. 

For volleyball, Roosevelt is led by Kevin Vanderwal and is 1-3 and is ranked 12th in the SD AA League, they lost to O’Gorman, Washington, and Harrisburg, but beat Lincoln in an important rivalry game.

Also, some other sports that have started are boy’s golf on Aug 17, girls tennis on Aug 18, and cross country on Sept 4. Some sports that are starting soon will be boys basketball on Dec 12, girls basketball on Dec 11, boys and girls wrestling on Dec 4, and boys tennis on April 4.
