School Shooting In Pine Bluff Arkansas Ends in Tragedy

On March 1, 2021 a 15- year old boy opened fire at a Junior High school in Pine Bluff Ark, and seriously injured a fellow student.

According to usatoday.com (2021) at 10:00am students from Watson Chapel Junior High were frightened as they switched from class to class due to the gunshots they heard. As students went into lockdown the shooter ran away but was soon found by a nearby neighborhood using a tracking dog. 

   According to the investigation Watson Chapel student Tomas Quarles targeted fellow student Daylon Burnett. However, police are not sure what the motive was. Daylon Burnett was rushed to the children’s hospitals where he died two days later. Tomas Quarles is facing first-degree battery charges resulting from the shooting, but new charges are coming after the death of Burnett. Quarles is being held in Jack Jones Juvenile Detention center; his bail was set at $1 million.
