3 Year-Old Shoots Sister in Texas

On March 13th, 2023, a 3 year-old in Houston, Texas, accidentally shot her 4 year-old sister. The child got a hold of the loaded semiautomatic pistol after being left unsupervised in her parents’ bedroom. Each parent claimed they thought the other parent was watching the kids. The family members heard the gunshot and ran upstairs to find their 4 year-old unresponsive. The parents called 911 immediately, but the child was pronounced dead on the scene. It is unknown if the parents will get charged. Houston County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said “You’ve got to make sure you’re a responsible gun owner. Secure your weapons in a safe place. It’s got to be more than just to tell the kids not to touch the weapons.”
