NASA Artemis Rocket launches to the moon

Landri Vander Velde, Author

NASA’s new Artemis test rocket launched at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on November 16th,  2022  at 1:47 AM, in hopes to take a 42 day trip around the moon and back. If everything goes as planned, after its mission, the Orion capsule will land in the Pacific Ocean on December 11th. The Artemis 1 rocket has three mannequin dummies on it that have sensors on them that measure different things such as vibration, acceleration, and cosmic radiation. This trip is a 1.2 million mile trip, costing them 4.1 billion dollars for the flight. Charlie Blackwell-Thompson tells her team “you have earned your place in history.” With this, NASA’s hope is to set up a base on the moon and send astronauts to Mars by the late 2030’s or early 2040’s.
