On Monday, SD Governor Kristy Noem signed a bill that prohibits both surgical and non-surgical gender-affirming treatments for transgender minors. The bill will ban the prescription of puberty-blocking medication and the administration of sex hormones and surgery. This new law will take effect on July first. “South Dakota’s kids are our future. With this legislation, we are protecting kids from harmful, permanent medical procedures,” Noem said on Monday. “I will always stand up for the next generation of South Dakotans.”
