On October 3, 2023, police in Slovakia spotted a dog sitting behind the wheel of a speeding car.

Police shared a photo of the dog on Facebook and explained that a traffic camera took it in the village of Šterusy. According to upi.com, “Police joked in the post that the brown dog was on the lookout for deer and officers ruined its hunting plans for the day.” Once the police noticed a dog was in the driver’s seat they pulled the car over to investigate. Inside the car was a 31-year-old man who was the actual driver of the car and told the police that his dog had unexpectedly hopped on his lap. However, the police had suspected that he was allowing the fairly large animal on his lap while driving.

“The post urged drivers to make sure dogs and other pets are properly restrained while riding in moving vehicles to avoid dangerous situations,” said upi.com.
