Around 4:21 PM on August 25, Sioux falls Police received a call from the Dunham Park area about a shooting that happened in the far end of the parking lot.

The shooting left one resident of Sioux Falls 29-year-old Joshua Antrell Allen Jr dead as a result of his injuries. Three of individuals were injured, two of them with  life threatening injuries.  The 3 injured include a 27-year-old man from Sioux Falls shot multiple times in the leg and torso, a 40-year-old shot in the face and 26-year-old shot in the shoulder. Around 7 PM, visitors inside were told they could leave but not to be allowed back in. Those inside were told over loudspeakers that no one would be allowed in or out. Officers could be seen outside of the emergency unit along with several residents who said their family members were inside

Clemens did not disclose whether or not the SFPD had weapons used, Handgun shells were found on the scene. Some of the casing were 9mm and some other categories. This indicates different guns were involved. Clemens said there is no threat to the public.

“The victims are all hospitalized and a couple of them have life-threatening injuries,” said Clemens, who said two more victims are facing life threatening injuries.

“It does not appear to be  a random type of event,” Clemens said. While law enforcements is not sure what events led up to the shooting, Clemens said “everyone at the park somehow knew each other,”

“The highest priority is that they get treatment and at some point we’re hoping that we’ll be able to talk to them and get information,” Clemens said.

At this time it remains unknown if the shooting is related to gang activity or if drugs and alcohol were involved. However, many people were at the park at the time of the shooting and a witness did tell news reporters off camera that they overheard people saying, “where’s the money” and “get in the car.”
