On Monday, February 19, 2025, a Delta Airlines plane crashed while attempting a landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The aircraft touched down on the runway and took a surprising right turn, flipping upside down and catching fire. Thanks to the first responders and crew, no fatalities occurred. However, 21 of the 80 individuals on board were sent to the hospital with injuries, and two required hospitalization. NPR.org states that “Cory Tkatch of Peel Regional Paramedic Services said first responders encountered a ‘multitude’ of injuries, including back sprains, head injuries, as well as anxiety and nausea and vomiting from fuel exposure.” Although the cause of this unexpected crash is still being investigated, many suspect that the 20 inches of snow the airport received through Thursday and Sunday played a major role.
