Col. Susannah Meyers, the Greenland Space Force (SF) base commander, was fired after sending a base-wide email opposing specific political stances.

During Vice President JD Vance’s visit to Greenland several weeks ago, he denounced Denmark for treating the people of Greenland as “second-class citizens” and also discussed the security of the large land. Meyers was reported to have “distanced herself” from Vance.

On March 31st, Meyers sent the email stating, “I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base”.

The Space Force said, “Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially as it relates to remaining nonpartisan in the performance of their duties”. Another statement said that they have lost confidence in her ability to lead because of her attempt to “politicize” SF and have been relieved of her duties.
