On Friday, May 16th, Former President Joe Biden was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer, and he will be reviewing treatment options with his doctor. AP News states, “Biden, 82, was having increasing urinary symptoms and was seen last week by doctors who found a prostate nodule. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and the cancer cells have spread to the bone, his office said in a statement.” 

Prostate cancer is survivable when caught early, it is a leading cause of death in men. AP News states, “About one in eight men will be diagnosed over their lifetime with prostate cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.” 

Many political leaders sent their wishes to Biden for a good recovery. AP News states, “President Donald Trump, a longtime political opponent, posted on social media that he was saddened by the news and ‘we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.” 

Trump suggested Biden’s White House is covering up the former president’s decline. According to NPR, “President Trump suggested without evidence on Monday that former President Joe Biden had delayed sharing his prostate cancer diagnosis, saying it was part of a pattern of the Biden White House covering up the former president’s decline.”
