Cleaning the World’s Water

German company Wasser 3.0 has invented the PE-X, a process that creates whirlpools to take out microplastic from bodies of water. These whirlpools can be used in saltwater or freshwater. The scientists from this company plan to change the world and make water safe to drink again. CNN10 “ Scientists estimate that there are at least 14 million metric tons of microplastics on the ocean floor, and while all kinds of plastic debris are considered bad for the environment, these ones are especially hard to detect and remove because of their minuscule size.” According to OneGreenPlanet “ The company uses a whirlpool and a hybrid silica gel to create a vortex in a tank of water. A compound that they call Wasser 3.0 PE-X is added to the whirlpool, which acts as a clumping agent and lumps microplastics into small balls so they can easily be taken out of the water. The lumps rise to the surface and are taken out with a sieve.” This product is really important due to the fact that the water we drink is damaging our DNA as well as inflammation and oxidative stress.
