In a Netflix special, Chris Rock finally responded to the infamous slap at the 2022 Oscars during his Netflix special “Selective Outrage.” If anyone is confused, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada’s (Pinket Smith) alopecia. “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see you,” was the exact quote. He was referring to Jada’s bald head. Will Smith then responded “Keep my wifes name out your f***ing mouth.” Not long after, Will Smith got up and slapped Chris Rock on stage. Will Smith is now banned from attending any academy events for the next 10 years and due to this situation the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have created a crisis team for the first time ever to be prepared to handle things like this. In the special that premiered March 4th, Rock finally broke his silence about the event and said “People like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears!” He then went on and called Smith a few profanities as his comedy bit continued.
