Bus driver to the rescue

Landri Vander Velde, Writer

April Wise, a bus driver from New Carlisle, Ohio received an award from district law enforcement and state representatives after using her quick thinking and fast reflexes to save a young boy from getting hit by a car. Wise did this by grabbing the boy, keeping him on the bus so he didn’t get hit by a car that Wise saw in the mirror. The boy’s family said that they are super grateful and they definitely appreciate her for what she did. According to Wise, the boy is one of the fastest kids to get on and off the bus; good thing she is also quick. Wise gets emotional as she replays the video of the split second rescue caught on camera. Wise stated she is appreciative of all the attention as she has been recognized for her actions and said “this goes far beyond what I imagined to happen”.
